SCOTT KING'S
CELEBRATION OF LIFE

My loving husband and best friend Scott Richard King passed away in his sleep on September 7, 2024, at the age of 63, after battling a long illness from cancer.

Scott was born to Clarence and Virginia King on July 21, 1961, in Sterling, Colorado. At the age of 4, Scott nearly died on the operating table when his appendix burst. He began working in the family restaurant, The Kings Derby, in Idaho Springs, Colorado, with his parents and six brothers and sisters at the tender age of 8.

Scott graduated from Clear Creek High School, excelling in sports and theater.  He moved to California and managed 19 studios for Olan Mills, then moved back to Colorado when his father became sick.  Scott and his first wife had two sons, Kalin and Justin, who from the day they were born remained the center of his life.

Scott moved his new family to Salem, Oregon in 1996, returning to Colorado to help care for his ailing mother. Returning to Salem after his mother's passing, Scott ran his own painting company, worked at KYKN Radio voicing ads and sports events, and as a marketing manager with a construction company then a collection company.

Scott and I met in 2006 when two of our sons became friends in school.  From the moment I took his hand on our third date I felt at home.  Scott and I remained together for the past 18 years, always supporting and loving one another every day.

In 2018 we reopened 13th Street Nursery in Salem, Oregon.  Scott absolutely loved running the nursery, chatting with customers, learning every day about the plants we sold, and continuing a business that had been there since 1920. It was our dream to be able to work together at a business we absolutely cherished.

Scott is survived by his two sons, Kalin and Justin, his four stepsons, Jacob, Ivan, Johnny and Alan (AJ), his five grandchildren, Devin, Kyler, Emma, Wednesday and Nemo, six brothers and sisters, Roy, LuAnn, JR, Dennis, Mandy and Toni, numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
